Dennis J Moore, D.C.

My name is Dennis Moore, Doctor of Chiropractic. My wife Yolanda and I have been happily married for 15 years, and the joy of our life is our two and a half year old son, Seamus. (Shay-mus). I have been in active practice since 1984 and do traditional chiropractic adjustments with my hands as well as lighter force techniques such as instrument assisted adjustments for enhancement of posture and for arthritis with an arthrostim and thompson gravity assisted light force drop technique for the spine and extremities for patients who prefer a lighter force technique, Robert Fulford’s Osteopathic technique of Vibropercussion for the spine and extremities to break up deep seated muscular scar tissue and adhesions as well as Cold Laser technique to reduce inflammation and speed healing. I also adjust extremities such as shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, knees, ankles, feet and TMJ (jaw) and perform deep tissue massage. I also work inside the body to reduce the inflammatory responses to speed healing by using enzymes and other supplements to reduce inflammation and improve digestion to deal with the nutritional component in acute and chronic health conditions.

While I employ traditional chiropractic adjustments and deep tissue massage as well as low force techniques such as Thompson, Activator, and Logan. I also offer my patients enhanced pain relief by utilizing advanced chiropractic techniques. These include cold laser, which helps produce natural anti-inflammatories . I also utilize small instrument assisted adjusting. My patients find this is especially effective in treating conditions such as arthritis and osteoporosis. I use instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization to treat scar tissue surrounding tissues and joints as well as tendinitis, which occurs in spinal joints and extremities such as shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, and feet.
I was born in Oakland, California and lived there for three years until my father, who worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 43 years, was transferred to the SP’s facilities at Roseville. We lived in Sacramento at 37th and M streets near Folsom Blvd. I remember my time in Sacramento quite fondly with many friends, innumerable trees, and large porches where neighbors took time to talk with one another. I attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grammar School in Sacramento until the age of 9, when my father was transferred to Los Angeles. I remember feeling sad to leave Sacramento, a fun and friendly place.
I have been active in sports all my life, starting by playing pool in the rumpus room of our home in Sacramento. I got so good at pool that I used to regularly beat my brothers’ college friends–this despite the fact that my head was barely over the pool table! I also enjoyed playing pinball and pool with my peers there as I aged.

Just before leaving for Los Angeles at the age of nine, while roughhousing with friends, I got a helpful push from a friend as I was climbing over a fence and broke my left arm. Two weeks after removing that cast, after a failed attempt at an acrobatic move on some monkey bars in our backyard in L.A., I fell and again broke the same bone in the left arm! This period of pain as well as later skiing injuries have enhanced my empathy for those who suffer from their ailments…

I played tennis from the age of 9 locally in Los Angeles in tournaments, training for several years with the Pasadena Foothill Tennis Patrons Association with such luminaries as the famous Pancho Segura. (Former tennis champion Stan Smith was also a product of this group.) With the boost this gave me, I starred on my high school tennis team and was named tennis team MVP my two years at East Los Angeles Community College.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of California, Santa Barbara. I had a short flirtation with politics working with Congressman Jerome Waldie as a student intern while in college. After that experience and the frustration of trying to get anything done in Washington, I came back to work for a short time on the San Francisco Belt Railroad. I used to joke with my family and friends that I went from the halls of congress to the streets of San Francisco. Work on the railroad was very strenuous, picking up decades old oil-soaked railroad ties weighing 250-400 pounds each and stacking them near the port of San Francisco. It was back-breaking labor. My supervisor worked me really hard, figuring I was a soft student. He was right when I started, but not by the end of that summer! It did teach me the value of hard work.

After college I worked assisting a homeopath, acupuncturist, and doctor of chiropractic in a health clinic. While working at Sunset Medical Clinic In San Francisco, I met a gentleman in his 70’s, a medical researcher who decided on becoming a merchant marine after 4 months in chiropractic school. He felt he had made a big mistake in not pursuing a chiropractic career and encouraged me to investigate the profession of chiropractic, because he believed it was the greatest healing profession in the world, dealing with certain conditions that other medical disciplines were less effective in treating. Shortly after conversing with him, a chiropractor was hired at the clinic, and I was astounded at his effectiveness, via chiropractic adjustments and other techniques, treating very common complaints such as neck, upper, middle, and lower back pain as well as headaches that had not responded to other treatment disciplines and modalities.
